Charminar: During his inspection at Charminar area, Principal Secretary (MA&UD) Arvind Kumar instructed the officials to submit proposals for smoothening of the surface at Lad bazaar for pedestrians who are unable to walk with ease due to uneven surface of pathway, laid of cobble stones, as part of the Charminar Pedestrian Project (CPP).
The issue was brought to the notice by Charminar MLA Mumtaz Khan during the higher official's visit on Friday. The MLA pointed out that existing floor at Lad Bazaar Road, laid under CPP, is very cumbersome to the pedestrians due to its rough surface.
Moreover, the water is getting stagnated in the gaps of the flooring, which is getting slushy, especially in the rainy season.
The PS instructed the officials to submit proposals with 'multi-pronged strategy' to make the surface smooth for pedestrians by grinding the top surface to make even and filling with rich mix in the gaps for making the surface smooth and to overcome the stagnation of water in the gaps.
Alternate measure he proposed was removal of the existing flooring and laying new flooring, matching the same pattern and design, as done around the Charminar.
The principal secretary, along with Asaduddin Owaisi and GHMC Commissioner Dana Kishore, accompanied by other officials visited areas in Charminar Zone (GHMC) in the morning hours.
During the inspection the MP has represented to take up some measures in the area. These include the road widening from Lad Bazaar end to Murghi Chowk by acquiring the properties on the both sides of the road, since this particular stretch is causing congestion and inconvenience in negotiating free left for the traffic coming from Moti Gali.
He brought to the notice that the dilapidated structure beside Pista House at Shahlibanda, opposite banyan tree, has become a bottleneck, which is causing congestion to the traffic.
The open space at old Charminar Bus Stand, which is proposed to take up for Multi-Level Parking (MLP), may be provided a setback leaving certain land for widening of that particular stretch to ease the traffic congestion and for utilizing as a bus bay. He also asked the official to ensure reconstruction of Murghi Chowk at the earliest.
