The increasing water level in Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) is bringing cheers to the farmers,who are dependent on the water of SRSP project for irrigation.

Balkonda (Nizamabad): The increasing water level in Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) is bringing cheers to the farmers,who are dependent on the water of SRSP project for irrigation. The project is receiving flood water from upstream in catchment areas.

The water storage of SRSP reservoir is the lifeline of north Telangana district. Godavari water level at SRSP project at present is at 1059.60 feet against the full reservoir level of 1091 feet. The water storage is 13.170 tmcft against the total capacity of 90 tmcft on Friday noon. The instant flow of water is 44.165 cusecs. The SRSP reservoir became dead storage by this time last year.

Scores of streams and rivulets in the erstwhile Nizamabad district that have run dry due to late onset of monsoon, are now in spate in the wake of incessant rains for the past 10 days. Not only the farmers, but the citizens of Armoor, Metpalli, Nirmal, Jagtial and other cities are happy as they are dependent on SRSP water storage for drinking water.
