The election officers have made all the necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of elections for the Khammam Parliamentary seat on Wednesday.

Staff allocation, setting up of polling centers and security arrangements in sensitive polling areas has already been done. EVMs, VVPATs and control units have been transported and micro observers, web casting teams and videographers have been deployed at the polling centres.
According to Returning Officer and District Collector RV Karnan, the Maoist strongholds like Aswaraopeta and Kothagudem constituencies have been deployed with additional security forces and the polling would end at 4 pm unlike at other places where it would end at 5.
The Khammam LS constituency has seven Assembly segments and arrangements have been made in all the segments to prevent any untoward incidents. There are 15,13,094 voters in the Parliamentary constituency.
Among them 7.73 lakh are women voters, 7.89 men voters and 66 belong to third gender. A total of 1,798 polling centres have been set up with one polling centre in every Assembly constituency reserved for women.
Keeping the summer heat, carpets to stand while in queues and drinking water facilities have been made at every polling centre.
Officials said 4,340 Electronic Voting Machines, 2,143 control units and 2,266 Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) would be used in this elections.
A total staff of 7,930 members was being used by the Election Commission in Khammam Parliamentary constituency. Over 14.82 lakh voter slips have been distributed.
To help disabled people to cast their vote, 1,112 wheel chairs have been stationed to the polling centres. 267 Micro observers are being used for this election in Khammam segment. Web casting from 461 poling centres and offline recording in 960 poling centres would be done.
Tight security
To prevent unwanted incidents, the district administration has made special arrangements in the district. A total of 171 sensitive areas have been identified and additional forces have been deployed at these centres.
Meanwhile, the district police have seized 14.6 lakh liters of alcohol and Rs 22.23 lakh at various police checkposts.
