SC, ST Commission stops recruitment of professors in JNTU-H
Telangana State Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes has directed the State Education Department to ensure that the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTU-H) stop the recruitment of professors.
Hyderabad: Telangana State Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes has directed the State Education Department to ensure that the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTU-H) stop the recruitment of professors.
Secretary of the Commission B R Meena in a communication to the State Education Secretary B Janardhan Reddy on Monday asked that the Chairman of the Commission wanted to review the issue on the implementation of the Rule of Reservation in the said recruitment process. Until then, the Commission wanted the process to be stopped.
The Commission in its communication said in response to a representation from two petitioners, namely, Javvadi Dileep and Ambadi Sai Vishwagna, had earlier asked the JNTU-H Vice-Chancellor and Registrar to strictly adhere to the Rule of Reservation in the recruitment of professors notified by the university and do justice to the genuine SC and ST candidates.
However, the University authorities had rejected the plea of the petitioners and informed that the Rule of Reservation (ROR) is not applicable to the recruitment initiated by the university.
The university argued in its response that the State of Telangana has not issued any GO to the effect and also said the University authorities cannot follow ROR till the State government took a policy decision on the issue, the Commission secretary said.
But the petitioner submitted copies of the AP Regulation of Reservations for appointments in the Public Services Act, 1997 which has been adopted by the government of Telangana.
Besides, circular instructions have already been issued by the Government on the issue.
It was against this backdrop the Commission's secretary in his communication said that the Chairman of the Commission has endorsed decision to stopp the recruitment until review by the Commission on Rule of Reservation.
