Warangal: Rich tributes were paid to Prof Jayashankar, the Telangana ideologue, on the occasion of his eighth death anniversary here on Friday. Paying floral tributes to his statue at Ekasila Park, former deputy chief minister K Srihari said Prof Jayashankar, who spread the importance of separate State until his last breath, is remembered forever for his contribution to the Telangana movement that would never be forgotten.
"The inauguration of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP), the largest lift scheme in the world, on Friday is a fitting tribute to Prof Jayashankar on his death anniversary. It will give immense satisfaction to the departed soul of Prof Jayashankar," Srihari said. He said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao would realise all the dreams of Prof Jayashankar, besides taking the State to number one position in the country.
KLIP the brainchild of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, which is aimed at irrigating parched land in Telangana is a giant leap for the agriculture sector, Warangal West MLA Vinay Bhaskar said. He said that the State under the leadership of KCR is marching ahead in all spheres of development. Later, the leaders also participated in a meeting at Kazipet, where they paid floral tributes to Prof Jayashankar.
