Officials elated over voluntary response of the people; appeal to them to continue their cooperation

Vikarabad: District Collector Pausumi Basu thanked people for voluntarily participating in the 'Janata Curfew' and making it successful. She appealed to the people to continue their cooperation on Monday as well. She urged people, to participate in the curfew for the second day, keeping in mind their health and their family's health and society's well-being.

According to government orders, check posts were set up at the state borders. Five isolation centers are located in the district – three in Vikarabad and two in Tandur. "Our guests from abroad were asked to make home quarantine and dial helpline numbers if anyone is seen around with suspected symptoms," the Collector advised.

Public places deserted

Tandur: Roads, junctions, market places in Yalala, Basheerabad, Tandur and Peddemul mandals wore a deserted look on Sunday as people stayed in to counter the threat from the spread of Coronavirus. Responding to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for the 14-hour 'Janata Curfew,' people in the urban and rural areas confined themselves to the self-imposed quarantine. Except the people rendering essential services like police, electricity, vegetables and commodities medical and journalists, all people were off the road for the day.

Police oversaw the smooth conduct of the event. Those who came on to the roads were counselled and explained to about the virus and sent back. Important temples like Sri Siddi Vinayaka, Kalika Devi, Bhavigi Bhadreshwara Swamy along with Methodist Church at railway station were remained closed. CI Ravi Kumar, who supervised the security thanked the people for the cooperation.

Border with Karnataka sealed

Tandur: Additional Collector Chandraiah said the people cooperated for the success of the Janata Curfew, by staying indoors. He inspected the Telangana-Karnataka boarder along with RDO Venumadhava Rao, ASP MA Rashid, DSP Laxminarayana, tahasildar Chinna Appalanaidu, mandal health officer Apurva. He said the border was completely closed and no one was allowed to cross the border from both sides under the supervision of DSP Laxminarayana. He thanked everyone for their cooperation and asked business establishments to extend the same for the next few hours.

Pargi/Peddemul: After the success of the Janata curfew in the district, people, officials, public representatives gave standing ovation for the persons involved in combating the spread of Corona Virus. People clapped at 5 pm from their houses and extended their solidarity. Parigi MLA Koppula Maheshwar Reddy along with his spouse clapped from his balocony.

District SP M Narayana thanked the business establishments, traders, shopkeepers, motorists etc., on behalf of the department for making success of the Janata curfew, on Sunday, as part of the Corona virus control campaign by the central government and the Telangana state government. As part of the programme, the SP clapped at 5 pm in Parigi town, appreciating the doctors, who are serving in the control, eradication of corona virus.
