Ranga Reddy district bags 2nd rank in MGNREGS scheme
Rangareddy district stood second after reaching a total of 83% in fulfilling the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in Telangana state.
Hyderabad: Rangareddy district stood second after reaching a total of 83% in fulfilling the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in Telangana state. The MGNREGS Act 2005 provides enhancement of livelihood security, giving at least 100 days of guaranteed wage employment in every financial year to every household, whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work.
Under this scheme, the government has provided employment to 1,65,778 members belonging to 1,00,911 families. The State government has targeted to provide 65 lakh employment days for these members from April 1 2020 to till date. The government provided 54.62 lakh working days of employment with the achievement of 83% of its target and paid a total of Rs 102.32 crores to the workers as daily wages. Under MGNREGS, the government stated that the construction of Palle Prakruthi vanalu was started in 781 villages out of which 827 villages have completed the work in Rangareddy District.
Under the Haritha Haram scheme, the government started the nurseries in 560 villages of Ranga Reddy district and 63 lakh saplings plantation has been completed. The government also started the construction of 7930 farm ponds throughout the district and 2636 farm ponds work has completed under the scheme. The government also started the development of Vaikunta Dhamalu and sanitisation in the villages under the MGNREGS scheme.
