Praveen Kumar slams govt over Musi project

Alleging that a fascist regime continues to prevail in Telangana, BRS leader RS Praveen Kumar on Thursday stated that the public should prepare to fight on behalf of the victims affected by the Musi project. The BRS leader demanded that the government immediately release the Detailed Project Report for the Musi River beautification project. He was speaking at a round-table conference held to oppose the alleged looting of public funds, amounting to over Rs one lakh crore, under the guise of river restoration.
He noted that during the river rejuvenation in Seoul, South Korea, the government conducted approximately 4,200 public outreach programmes to gather citizen feedback. He questioned why the Telangana government had failed to conduct similar outreach initiatives. Instead, they held only a single meeting at the Taj Krishna hotel with real estate developers like Ponguleti.
Praveen Kumar argued that developers are focused solely on seizing land and constructing high-rise buildings for profit. He remarked that even the Thames and Sabarmati rivers have not been fully restored, yet the state is rushing into this project without transparency. He questioned why the project report has not been made public, asserting that subjecting poor citizens to hardship without proper planning is unconstitutional and violates Articles 19 and 21. While Rahul Gandhi travels the country upholding the Constitution, Revanth Reddy is butchering it, he said.
He accused the Chief Minister of spinning lies by claiming only 10,000 families are affected, suggesting a conspiracy to loot Rs 1.5 lakh crore. He warned that the danger is not limited to a few families; rather, hundreds of thousands could be left destitute and forced into casual labour. The programme was organised by the BRSV, the student wing of the BRS party, to highlight these significant risks to the brand image and social fabric of the city.
