Hyderabad: Telangana government has initiated the process of implementation of human resource policy for the staff of MEPMA (Mission for Elevation of Poverty in Municipal Areas).

Under this scheme, the contractual employees would get huge relief with regular pay and job security.

According to sources in the Municipal Administration and Urban Development department, authorities have sought details of the staff including names, post held by the personnel, their bank and PAN details.

A senior official told The Hans India that the human resource policy would be applicable to those employees who have completed five years of service under MEPMA.

There are about 500 personnel working in different posts in MEPMA and they have been demanding the MAUD to implement the HR policy thereby providing job security and other benefits.

The department had also sent proposals to the State government for considering the HR policy and the government had also in principle agreed to this.

Government had agreed to this as the then Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao during August 2018 had assured the implementation of the HR policy soon.

Government gave go ahead to the officials to initiate the process in the month of September 2018 (before the Assembly was dissolved). However, no guidelines were finalised and the issue dragged till now because of the election code in the State.

According to officials, every employee who is on the rolls of MEPMA on contract or outsourcing as on the date of application of human resource policy to be decided by a committee of MEPMA will be on fixed tenure of employment on contract for a period of five years and it would be renewable at the end of five years subject to performance of the personnel.

Salaries would be applicable to the officials based on their level of functional specifications.

Meanwhile, the 6,000-odd resource persons in the department are also waiting for the HR policy.

The State government had promised to provide Rs 4,000 as salary to these personnel and issued a government order in September 2018.

However, there has been no progress in the process in this regard.
