Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav informs that construction of 2,506 double bedroom houses is completed and soon they will be handed over to beneficiaries

Khammam: The construction of double bedroom houses was going on at a fast pace in Khammam district which was sanctioned 14,560 houses, informed Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav.

Addressing the gathering after hoisting the national flag in Khammam on Thursday, the Minister said the works of 8,947 houses were started and so far, 2,506 houses were completed. While 750 houses were handed over to beneficiaries so fat, the houses ready for occupying would be handed over soon to the selected beneficiaries.

Under TS-iPASS, 274 permissions were granted to 178 industrial units in the year 2018-19, in which Rs 474.76 crore was invested. These units were expected to provide employment to 1,943 persons. Subsidised industrial units were allotted to SC/ST and physically challenged persons, he informed.

"Khammam district has occupied a prominent place in the State in terms of sports promotion by organising many State and national-level sports events. Recently, archery training ring at Sardar Patel Stadium was started to promote the sport in a big way," the Minister said. The Telangana government has been laying emphasis on equipping the youth with livelihood skills and as part of that commitment, a Skill Development Training Centre was set up Khammam to help youngsters gain employment, Talasani noted.

He informed that Khammam city has seen lot of development and recently, the Gandhi Chowk was modernised. Soon, a night shelter to homeless would be inaugurated in the city, the Minister informed.

Talasani on the occasion felicitated freedom fighters and distributed cheques to beneficiaries. MLC B Lakshminarayana, Mayor G Papalal, Collector RV Karnan, Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal and others were present. Cultural programmes by students enthralled the public.
