Hyderabad: The Cyber Crime Police Station, Rachakonda personnel arrested a one person on Wednesday for allegedly harassing a girl by posting objectionable photos of her on social media for not accepting his love proposal. The accused was identified as M Srikanth (27).

According to police, victim, resident of Vanasthalipuram lodged a complaint in which she stated that she was facing sexual harassment in electronic form and stalking by one person on social media.

The complainant said that the accused shared objectionable photos of her in social media and put them up as his status on Facebook profile and thus defamed her character for not accepting his love proposal. Police registered a case under sections 354 (D) IPC and 66 C of IT Act and took up investigation.

Officials nabbed the accused from Pet Basheerabad on Wednesday. On investigation, the accused admitted that he and victim were classmates in school and junior college. While in school, the accused made friendship with victim, and during this period he took some photos of the victim.

Due to her busy academic schedule the victim stopped meeting and distanced herself from the accused and ignored his calls and WhatsApp messages. In the month of September 2019, he went to the house of victim and abused her parents and forced her to marry him. Later, aggravated accused posted old photos and videos available in his mobile on all his social media accounts to defame victim.
