One ATM thief nabbed; 50,000, cutting equipment seized in Hyderabad
The CCS, LB Nagar personnel along with Adibatla Police on Thursday nabbed one thief who was allegedly involved in ATM thefts and seized net cash of Rs 50,000 and gas cutting equipment used in the commission of an offence.
Hyderabad: The CCS, LB Nagar personnel along with Adibatla Police on Thursday nabbed one thief who was allegedly involved in ATM thefts and seized net cash of Rs 50,000 and gas cutting equipment used in the commission of an offence. The accused was identified as Mohammed Amzad (26). On enquiry, he confessed of committing ATM cash theft and also attempted to rob one ATM at Patancheru along with six others identified as Zuber, Harmunj, Muqueeth Khan, and three other unknown persons, who are all natives of Haryana State.
The other accused Jamshed and Sajeed along with Zuber were arrested on September 24 by Kothwali Police of Mandla district, Haryana and seized a car, which was the same car used in the commission of ATM offence at Adibatla.
According to Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat, Amzad was working as cab driver. Amzad's brother, Zuber is a professional thief, who was earlier involved in ATM cash theft cases in Haryana State. Zuber contacted Amzad and asked him to recce the feasible ATM centres in Hyderabad. Accordingly, Amzad procured all the gas cutting equipment and after performing recce, the six accused headed by Zuber came down to Hyderabad in a car.
Later, Amzad took them to his house and loaded all the gas cutting equipment and took them to an isolated place. The accused committed the crime during late night at Manneguda and later moved further and checked around 15 ATM centres on the way till Habsiguda but could not commit offence as there was public movement.
