With the officials instructing to halt the supply of water from Singur and Manjeera reservoirs until further notice, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) is utilising water from Osmansagar and Himayatsagar to fulfil the water needs in the affected colonies.
Hyderabad: With the officials instructing to halt the supply of water from Singur and Manjeera reservoirs until further notice, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) is utilising water from Osmansagar and Himayatsagar to fulfil the water needs in the affected colonies.
24-hour water supply is currently stopped in parts of the city and to compensate this shortage of water, the HMWS&SB has deployed tankers to supply water in the core areas of twin cities, surrounding municipalities and en route villages.
1,248 tankers would be deployed by the Water Board to supply water to un-served and ill-served areas making 7,880 trips on daily basis along with payment trips which can also be arranged for consumers in other areas under 'Dial-a-Tanker' scheme which serves 3,900 trips per day, the water is filled across 69 filling station spread all over the twin city.
To supply water to the surrounding Municipalities of GHMC area and en route villages, 233 GHMC tankers have been deployed.
The filling stations around JB Nagar get water from Krishna River and filling stations around Secunderabad and Hyderabad get water from Godavari River. Hafeezpet, Chandannagar, KPHB colony, SR Nagar are the areas where tankers supply more water compared to the rest of the areas in the twin city.
With MS pipeline works being carried out at main junctions like joining of newly-laid 1600mm dia MS pipeline with the existing 1600mm dia pipeline of Krishna Phase-II, Ring Main-II, for facilitating the construction of the flyover by GHMC under SRDP at Kamineni junction and other emergency and long pending leakage works on Krishna Phase-II pipeline, A shut down is proposed from 11.00 am Wednesday to 11.00 am Thursday in Vaishalinagar, BN Reddy Nagar, Auto Nagar, Vansthalipuram, Meerpet, Balapur, Barkas, Maisaram, Ellugugutta, Ramanthapur, Uppal, Habsiguda, Nacharam, Chilakanagar, Tarnaka, Lalapet, Boudhanagar, Marredpally, Control room, Mekalamandi, Bholakpur, Hasmathpet, Secunderabad Railways, MES, Cantonment Board, Prakash Nagar and Pattigadda area.
