Nizamabad: District Collector C Narayana Reddy asked the farmers to reduce use of chemical fertilisers, which will weaken the soil. He felicitated Chinni Krishna, who received Rythu Nestam Award here on Monday. Vice-President of India Venkaiah Naidu presented the award to him on December 16.

Nagulat Chinni Gangaram alias Chinni Krishna of Chintaluru village in Jakranpalli mandal was awarded with Rythu Nestam award for Best Farmers for 2020-21 year for using traditional farming methods like organic fertilisers, gaining recognition and acclaim across the State.

Chinni Krishna met the Collector at his chamber here on Monday through the district agriculture officer. The Collector lauded him, who become an ideal for other farmers by cultivating healthy crops in traditional way without using chemical fertilisers. Farmers should take Chinni Krishna as their ideal and all farmers must take up natural farming and provide food to ten people and stay healthy, he stated.

Additional Collector Chandrasekhar, District Agriculture Officer Govind, Lead Bank Manager Jaya Santoshi, farmers and others were present on the occasion.
