Nizamabad: ZP and Manal Parishad general body meetings were stalled due to Covid-19 lockdown across the State.

It's time for 31 ZPs to kick off meetings.

The meetings of ZP and Mandal Praja Parishad general bodies of Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts are scheduled to kick off in June first week.

As per Panchayati Raj Act the meetings should be conducted for every three months and the last meeting of Kamareddy ZP was held on March 4.

As per the rules, the next general body meeting should be held within 90 days, i.e., on June 4. If the meeting is not conducted, as per the Panchayati Raj Act, the governing council will be dissolved after 90 days.

To escape from this problem, the members have decided to hold nominal meetings for a short period. Already Karimnagar ZP general body meeting was nominally held on Saturday and the next meeting will be after three months only.

Mandal meetings are also allegedly following the same method. The keynote meetings with agricultural livestock, ICDS and education issues were not held due to fear of Covid-19.
