Nizamabad: All gram panchayats should be committed to greenery, cleanliness

Dichpally (Nizamabad): The officials were ordered to ensure that all gram panchayats (GPs) have equal access to greenery and cleanliness. District Collector C Narayana Reddy told the officials at a district-level training programme on harvesting, ownership and sprouting management in gram panchayats, at TTDC in Dichpally on Friday, which was conducted as part of Haritha Haram.

The Collector, chief guest, said that everyone should know the targets set by the government for Palle Pragati. Apart from per capita and local sources of income, the government is releasing funds to gram panchayats every month and development should be done using these funds. Suggesting them to think in a professional way to complete the works, he told them to bring to his attention if they found any problems while completing the task.

Narayana Reddy said that all gram panchayats should start composting manure by setting up a dumping yard and they should acquire tractors and should construct cemeteries. The village panchayats, which have funded less than 35 per cent of the cost of the tractor, will be reimbursed temporarily, he said.

Water supply through these tractors for contract work in village panchayats as well as greenhouses will make it easier to pay monthly instalments on tractor loan with employment guaranteed money, he said.

Each gram panchayat must distribute two garbage bins to all households to collect wet and dry waste separately. Necessary steps should be taken to treat the wet trash completely as compost manure as per the zero-waste concept.

The Collector asked people to construct individual toilets in their houses as part of hygiene and also to construct soak pit. In each village panchayat, nurseries should be set up and saplings should be prepared as per the number of plants needed.
