Later addressing the participants, the Minister said that the State government is working exclusively for the welfare of farmers, hence launched Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bheema, quality fertiliser distribution, 24-hour power supply for irrigation and opened purchasing centres to offer minimum support price. Red gram minimum support price is Rs 5,800 per quintal and the farmers will be paid the amount within a week of the purchase.
The Minister said elections are being held to strengthen the farmers of cooperative societies. Speaking about the biggest tribal fair Medaram jatara, Indrakaran Reddy said the government had allotted Rs 75 crore to provide sanitation, electricity and other facilities for the devotees, who throng to the jatara from all corners of the State and from neighbouring States also. About 40,000 police personnel were deployed to ensure security to the devotees and additional RTC buses were arranged to meet the heavy rush.
Nirmal Market Committee Chairman Dharmaji Rajendar, District Rythu Samanwaya Samiti coordinator Nalla Venkatram Reddy, Municipal Chairman Gandrath Eshwar, Vice-Chairman Sajid, District Marketing Officer Srinivas, District Agricultural Officer Venkateshwarlu, Allola Muralidhar Reddy and councillors were present.
