Nirmal: Child rights protection is everyone's responsibility
Every child has rights and its everyone’s responsibility to protect child rights, stated District Collector M Prashanthi and Superintendent of Police C Shashidhar Raju.

They participated in district-level children rights meeting organised by Women and Child Welfare Department at the Collector's conference hall in Nirmal on Wednesday. Earlier, the Collector flagged off 'Marathon Walk' from the Collectorate to TNGO Bhawan, organised as part of Children's Day week-long celebrations here, in which students from different schools in the city participated.
Collector Prashanthi said boys and girls should be treated equally and should not show gender discrimination among the kids. Children should fight for their rights, she added.
SP Shashidhar Raju said today's children are tomorrow's citizen and everyone should protect their rights. He told the children to come to police station if they have any problem either with their parents in house, or at school or with neighbours. Nobody has the right to beat the children at school or home. He created awareness among the children on their rights on the occasion.
Later, sweets were distributed to the school children and prizes were presented to the winners of essay writing, drawing and quiz competitions held as part of Children's Day week-long celebrations.
ICDS officer G Rajagopal, district educational officer Pranitha, TNGO district president Prabhakar, Dream NGOs president Krishna Reddy, DCPO Murali, ICDs staff Saggam Raju, Laxman, Mamatha, Srinivas and others were present.
