Hyderabad: Government of Telangana, School Education Department has constituted a State level committee to engage Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) under the chairmanship of Secretary Department of Education with eight members.
The committee comprising of Officers and Experts from the field of Food and Nutrition, Law, Women and Child Welfare Department, Health etc., The committee includes the following Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy IAS, Secretary Department of Education – Chairman, T.Vijaya Kumar, Commissioner, Commissioner & Director of School Education – Convener, the members Commissioner & Ex Officio Secretary, Civil Supplies Department, Secretary, Law department, Director Women & Child Welfare Department, Commissioner, Health and Family Welfare Department, Dr. T.Vijaya Kumar, Associate Professor, National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR), Rajendranagar Hyderabad and representative from Manna Trust ( NGO) or Akshyaya Patra (NGO)
Speaking about the significance of such a Committee, Dr. Vijaya Kumar, Associate Professor and Head, Centre for Equity and Social Development, NIRDPR Who is also a member of this committee, said, "This is a Good step to constitute a committee with experts from various fields for improving the quality supply of Mid-day meals to needy school children. NIRDPR is involved with the scheme since long period and played constructive and active role in monitoring and evaluation of Mid-day meal scheme at the National level and contributed a lot for improving the quality delivery of the cooked mid-day meals in Government schools and the policy of MDM particularly in rural areas under the stewardship of Dr. W.R.Reddy, Director General, NIRDPR and NIRDPR will definitely contribute for the betterment of the scheme with this role."
