A 20-day old baby girl was found abandoned on Platform No.2 at Secunderabad Railway Station on Monday. The railway police suspected that the newborn might have left by her parents.

According to the sources, the child was found at 5 pm on the platform by the passengers who heard the baby crying. The Government Railway Police were alerted who shifted the infant to Shishu Vihar in Ameerpet after a medical examination.

The police registered a case and took up an investigation.

Meanwhile, the officials examined the CCTV footage and found a couple leaving the child on the platform. Efforts are on to identify and trace the couple. The officials are also verifying birth records at hospitals and nursing homes nearby to identify her parents.

Another newborn baby was also found in a garbage dump in Vellore by the locals. Locals who heard the cry of the baby discovered her in the garbage and alerted the police immediately. The police found a small bag of baby dresses next to the girl who was later shifted to Vellore government hospital. The baby girl is said to be two or three days old.
