In a tragic incident, a 11-year-old girl was electrocuted when she tried to remove a live wire that was dangling near the Mission Bhagiratha tap.
Narayanpet: In a tragic incident, a 11-year-old girl was electrocuted when she tried to remove a live wire that was dangling near the Mission Bhagiratha tap. The incident happened in Parthipur village of Damargidda mandal in Narayanpet district on Tuesday when the girl went to fetch some water.
According to sources, Venkatamma (11), who was studying Class 5 at Parthipur government primary school has been living with her paternal grandmother. on Tuesday, after finishing household chores in the evening, she went to fetch water from the Mission Bhagiratha tap. However, there was a live wire that was broken and dangling near the tap for the last many days. The little girl, not knowing of the danger, tried to take away the wire from the tap and got electrocuted and died on the spot.
The villagers alleged that it was because of sheer negligence of the electricity department authorities the little girl had lost her live. Even though they have complained of the broken live wire to the electricity department officials many a times, they had not come to repair it and it was lying there for the last one week.
"The electricity department authorities are responsible for the death of our child. Government must take action against those responsible and provide us justice," demanded the villagers.
