Karimnagar: The unexpected results that were witnessed in the recently held Lok Sabha elections are due to nationalism spread across the country, former MP Boinapalli Vinod Kumar stated at a press meet at his residence in Karimnagar on Friday.
Speaking to the media persons, the former MP said first time voters and youth present across the nation and in the State voted for BJP. The attack on terrorists' camps by the Indian government before the elections had a great impact on youth and spread nationalism, especially among the youth, which motivated them to vote for the saffron party.
"I strived hard as MP during my tenure from 2014 to 2019 and it is because of my efforts, Karimnagar got Smart City tag along with sanctioning of Rs 1,000 crore funds for its development and Karimnagar is made a centre for all the national highways. For getting clearance certificates for the Kaleshwaram Project, I worked like a clerk at the Delhi meetings as the project is considered to be the dream project of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao," he said.
Vinod Kumar observed that overconfidence proved costly for the TRS in the Lok Sabha elections. Apart from that Modi wave created miracles across the nation giving the BJP a bumper majority. Moreover, the people did not bother about corruption and unemployment as the major issues, hence unexpected results came out, he added.
Karimnagar is one of the sure to win seats. The party is still trying to recover from the shock it received with the defeat in Lok Sabha elections and trying to study about the reasons for its defeat even though it won in all the seven Assembly segments in the elections that were held a few months back, he added.
"In a democratic country, people's judgement is most important and will accept their decision humbly. In the coming up days, I will mingle with the people and will ask the government for the wellbeing of the people along with trying to solve all their issues," former MP Vinod Kumar said.
TRS MLAs of Karimnagar, Manakondur, Husnabad and Choppdandi Gangula Kamalakar, Rasamai Balakishan, Vodithala Satish Kumar and Sunkari Ravi Shankar, MLCs Narasadu Laxman Rao and Santosh Kumar, ZP Chairperson Tula Uma, Eda Shankar Reddy, City Mayor Ravinder Singh and others were present at the press meet.
