Narsampet: Call to protect child rights
The onus is on every citizen to protect the rights of children, Warangal rural Zilla Parishad Chairperson Gandra Jyothy said.
Narsampet (Warangal Rural): The onus is on every citizen to protect the rights of children, Warangal rural Zilla Parishad Chairperson Gandra Jyothy said. Speaking at the launch of Marathon Walk as part of Child Rights Week here on Thursday, she said that the safety of the children is the need of the hour. "The rights of the children need to be safeguarded," she said, terming children as nation's invaluable assets.
Even though the institutions looking after the protection of child rights are working efficiently, the involvement of the people is foremost, Jyothy said. Referring to the various programmes initiated by the Central and State governments for the welfare of the children, she said that access to education, health, shelter, clean water and air, and nutritious food would bring a catalytic change in the lives of children. Unless the line departments work in tandem, it's difficult to support the cause of children, she added.
Narsampet MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy said that there was an imperative need for identifying the problems faced by the children. District Welfare Officer K Chinnaiah said: "As part of Child Rights Week, we are conducting various competitions for the students of a school each from three ICDS Projects – Narsampet, Parkal and Wardhannapet. The District Collector M Haritha would distribute mementoes and certificate of appreciation to the winners on November 20."
District Child Protection Officer G Mahender Reddy administered the oath of working for the protection of child rights, on the occasion.
