Nalgonda: SP's brainchild 'Cheyutha' highly successful
Scheme being implemented in TS and AP
Nalgonda: 'Cheyutha', the brainchild of Superintendent of Police and Nalgonda District Police Officers Association for the welfare of police families in the district and formed a decade ago,
not only got appreciation from all quarters but also became a role model. This scheme is now being implemented in majority districts of the two Telugu speaking States.
According to sources, the then Nalgonda SP Rajesh Kumar, native of Jharkhand, initiated a contribution-based programme named 'Cheyutha' in 2010 for the welfare of police families. From constable to SP, every cop made the programme a grand success by extending their co-operation. The main aim of this programme is to provide financial aid to the families of cops, who died during service due to any reason.
As part of the programme, everyone from constable to SI cadre has to contribute Rs 100 per month and CI to DSP cadre has to contribute Rs 300 per month, while Additional SP and SP has to contribute Rs 500 per month. The amount will be automatically debited from their salaries and the amount will be deposited in Cheyutha bank account. A financial aid of Rs 1.50 lakh will be given to the family of police official, who dies in service, whatever the reason may be.
After 'Cheyutha' became successful, it was implemented in Warangal and Nizamabad districts in 2012. Later, following the instructions of the then
DGP, Cheyutha was introduced in majority districts in united Andhra Pradesh.
The financial aid to the bereaved police families under Cheyutha was increased from Rs 1.50 lakh to Rs 2 lakh in erstwhile Nalgonda district since 2014.
Speaking to The Hans India, District Police Officers Association president Jayaraj said that they feel proud that Cheyutha started in their district and now being implemented in majority districts in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. As many as 168 police families in erstwhile Nalgonda district were provided a financial aid of about Rs 3.01 crore under Cheyutha since 2010 to till date, he informed. Jayaraj further said that 77 bereaved police families got Rs 1.50 lakh aid each from 2010 to 2013 and 91 police families got financial help of Rs 2 lakh each from 2014 till today.
Jayaraj requested the bereaved police family members not to lose heart and assured that Police Officers Association is always there for them to address their issues in an amicable way.
He asked them to call on his mobile number 9440187003 for any help.
