Telangana State Medical Council was urged to look into the matter of healthcare courses (PG diploma and Advance PG diploma) being offered by a few hospitals with affiliation to Osmania University.

Hyderabad: Telangana State Medical Council was urged to look into the matter of healthcare courses (PG diploma and Advance PG diploma) being offered by a few hospitals with affiliation to Osmania University.

The courses include PG Diploma in Operation Theatre Technology, PG Diploma in Cath Lab Technology, PG Diploma in Perfusion Technology, PG Diploma in Cardiac Anesthesia Technology, PG Diploma in Medical Research Assistant etc. and Advanced PG Diploma in Medical Emergency Care, Advanced PG Diploma in Medical Imaging Technology, Advanced PG Diploma in Anesthesia Technology, Advanced PG Diploma in Cardiac Technology etc.

The Medical Council was requested to inquire whether Osmania University has legitimate powers to offer such courses.

According to Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association, health care courses should be affiliated to Health University only. It said that private hospitals are collecting huge fees to train non-allopathic practitioners, and this was leading to quackery.
