Medak: Docs, labs told to shun sex determination tests

Medak: District Collector Dharma Reddy held a meeting with gynecologists and pediatricians at his office here on Saturday. He said sex determination test was illegal. "Criminal cases will be filed if doctors are found performing the test.

Doctors should do counselling to those approaching them for the test. Signboards stating sex determination test won't be performed should be put up in front of ultra scanning centers to sensitise people," he added. District Medical and Health Officer Venkateshwara Rao, DCH Chandrasekhar, DWO Rasoolbi and others took part in the meeting.
