Mahbubnagar: RTC employees decry government's nonchalance, police highhandedness
They take out protest rallies across the erstwhile Mahbubnagar district with the support of Left party leaders and their trade unions
Mahbubnagar: Expressing their angst against the police and the RTC management for not allowing them to resume their duties, the RTC workers, supported by the members of CPI and CPM parties, took out protest rallies and tried to lay siege to the district collectorates across erstwhile Mahbubnagar district on Wednesday.
In Wanaparthy district, the members Left parties, leaders of Centre for Indian Trade Unions along with RTC workers took out a protest rally raising slogans against the State government and the police for obstructing the RTC workers from joining their duties. The agitators heading towards RTC depot were stopped by the police. Later, they headed towards the district collectorate and tried to lay siege to the collectorate office. However, the police stopped them at the gates.
"We condemn the adamant attitude of the State government. It will cost the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and its government heavily in the long run. We are demanding the government to allow the workers join the duties besides stopping their illegal arrests," sought the protesters. The RTC workers later staged a sit-in at the collectorate office and demanded the Collector to come out and resolve their issues.
Similar scenes were witnessed in Nagarkurnool district, where the RTC workers along with Left leaders tried to lay siege to the district collectorate. However, the police stopped them and took them into custody. In Mahbubnagar, the RTC workers along with the Left leaders staged a protest in front of the district collectorate. The police stopped them from entering the collectorate and a tussle broke out between the police and the protestors.
