Mahbubnagar: Encounter killing Accused's wife cries foul

Mahbubnagar: The families of accused in the Disha murder case, who were killed in an encounter on early Friday morning hours, alleged that they were killed in a fake encounter. All the accused come from poor family backgrounds.

Except for Mohammad Pasha, all the other accused had bad reputation in their villages about their conduct as they were involved in many issues. All the four accused were from Narayanpet district, Pasha belonged to Gudigandal village while all others Jollu Shiva, Jollu Naveen and Chennakeshavulu belonged to Jakleir village in Makthal mandal.

After the news of encounter spread, wife of accused Chennakeshavulu alleged that the police killed her husband in a fake encounter. She said that the police took away her husband more than a week ago promising to send him back after investigation; however, she got to know on Friday that her husband was killed in an encounter.

She alleged that the police murdered her husband without even proving that he was involved in the case. She alleged that because they were poor and they do not have money to pay for lawyers to defend them, the police have resorted to killing in a fake encounter.

She alleged that it was a pre plan drama of police who have taken them to the crime scene and on the pretext of their escape they killed them in cold blood. Accused Mohammad Pasha alias Aarif (26) was the only son of Hussain and Begam. He studied up to 10th class.

His parents work as daily wage workers in the fields to make a livelihood. They were happy to see Aarif get a job as lorry driver a year ago. The villagers said that Pasha had good track record in his village. He was not involved in any police case and did not have any criminal history.

The second accused Jollu Shiva (17) was working as a lorry cleaner. He was son of Rajappa and Manemma, both agriculture labourers. Shiva studied up to 7th class and had taken up the job of a lorry cleaner to support his family financially.

The third accused Jollu Naveen was the son of late Yellappa and Laxmi. As Naveen lost his father long ago, he discontinued studies after 7th class and took up a job as cleaner to support his family.

The fourth accused Chintakunta Chennakeshavulu (20) was Kurmaiah and Jayamma's son and from Jakleir village. He was married a-year-ago and was working as a driver.

A lawyer from Mahbubnagar said that no doubt the four accused committed the most heinous crime, but there is a procedure and there is law and courts to punish them.

"The State government had ordered fast tract court and the police were asked to submit the proofs as early as possible. It would have been much better if these accused would have got punished as per the law, instead of police taking law in their own hands to punish the accused in an encounter," the lawyer said.
