Mahbubnagar: Clamour for celebration of Hyderabad Liberation Day grows
CPI plans week-long bus yatra to put pressure on the government to yield to its demand of celebrating the Hyderabad Liberation Day on September 17.
Mahbubnagar: Joining the bandwagon of opposition parties, the members of Communist Party of India from Mahbubnagar district have demanded the State government to celebrate September 17 as Hyderabad Liberation Day. As part of this, the CPI party has decided to go on a week-long 'Militant Movement Bus Yatra' across Telangana from September 11-17.
Speaking to the Hans India, CPI district secretary Paramesh Goud said that the TRS government was deliberately avoiding the Liberation Day celebrations on September 17, the day on which Hyderabad was liberated from the rule of Nizams and included in the Indian Union, which gave the democratic freedom for people of Telangana who had been living under suppressive rule of Nizam kings.
"The TRS party is an opportunistic party led by its leader and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. They have a political tie-up with MIM, and to appease them the TRS has gone back on its promise of celebrating the Hyderabad Liberation Day. We want to expose the double standards of this government to the people and very soon, the people will revolt against the State government for its anti-people policies," said the CPI leader.
Meanwhile, he released a poster with regard to bus yatra and stated that party wanted to remember the sacrifices of communist party leaders who laid their lives for the liberation of Hyderabad State.
"Even though India got freedom from the British on August 15, 1947, the Hyderabad State was liberated from the clutches of Nizam only in 1948 and it was possible only because of great leaders like Ravi Narayan Reddy, Baddam Yella Reddy, Maqdoom Moinuddin, who led the militant movement and motivated the peasants and the farmers of Telangana to fight the Nizam and broke the Zamindari, Patwari systems. However, the TRS government even after formation of new Telangana State is fearing to celebrate the Liberation Day just because to appease the MIM," said Paramesh Goud.
