Mahbubnagar: Of the 1,200 journalists who had applied for accreditation cards from across erstwhile Mahbubnagar district, the DPROs of Wanaparthy and Mahbubnagar have prepared a list of 520 journalists to be eligible for granting accreditation cards in the two districts in the first phase.

On Friday, Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy handed over the new accreditation cards to journalists and said that the State government was committed for the welfare of journalists in the State. He also said that the government would fulfil its promise of allocating double bedroom houses to all the eligible journalists. He, however, said that the government might not give open plots for journalists for the construction of individual houses.

In Mahbubnagar, out of about 400 journalists, who had applied for the accreditation, the district public relation officer Pandu Rangarao said that he has found 350 applications to be eligible for issuing the cards. "We have almost finalised the list of all journalists who are eligible for accreditation cards. Accordingly, we have started distributing them. In the first phase, we will be distributing more than 350 cards and later on, we will consider the applications of other journalists," said Pandu Rangarao.

In Wanaparthy, DPRO Venkateshwarlu said that out of 800 journalists who had applied for accreditation, they found 170 eligible journalists and handed over the accreditation cards to them. He also assured that District Collector Swetha Mohanty had agreed to give accreditation cards to all eligible journalists.
