In a tragic incident, two of the seven persons who were heading to attend a wedding were killed on the national highway 44 near Shadnagar on Friday when the car they were travelling in hit a road divider and somersaulted several times before coming to a standstill.

Mahbubnagar: In a tragic incident, two of the seven persons who were heading to attend a wedding were killed on the national highway 44 near Shadnagar on Friday when the car they were travelling in hit a road divider and somersaulted several times before coming to a standstill. In the incident, remaining five persons also received injuries with three of them suffering critical injuries.

While the deceased were identified as Venky and Baskar, the severely injured were identified as Naresh, Abilash and Likit, where Likit's condition was said to be critical. Meanwhile, the other two persons escaped with minor injuries.

According to sources, a group of seven friends were heading to Anantapur to attend the wedding of their friend's sister. When their car reached Shadnagar, the driver of the car tried to overtake another vehicle from the right side, during which the car hit the median and somersaulted several times before coming to a standstill in the roadside agriculture field.

While Baskar and Venky died on the spot, other three were injured severely. All the injured were shifted to Shadnagar government hospital. Later on, one person who was injured critically was shifted to Osmania General Hospital in Hyderabad.

With traffic coming to a standstill on the highway, the police swung into action and cleared the traffic. The police said that the accident occurred due to high speed because of which the driver lost the control over the car and hit the median leading to the accident.
