Peddapalli: Everyone must take Mahatma Jyotiba Phule as inspiration and follow his footsteps, said District Collector Sri Devasena. She along with Joint Collector Vanaja Devi paid floral tributes to the portrait of Phule on the occasion of his 193rd birth anniversary at the Collectorate conference hall in Peddapalli on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said Mahatma Jyotiba Phule strived hard for uplifting the weaker sections of people and he is an inspiration for the people of present and future generations, who worked for the development of backward class people.
Phule also strived hard for giving equal rights and for giving equal importance to all sections of people living in the society without any discrimination.
He also fought for providing equal rights for women like that of men and enlightened the nation. Phule stood as an inspiration for the great personalities in the later stages like Mahatma Gandhi and Dr BR Ambedkar in bringing the social changes and reforms.
District agriculture officer Thirumal Prasad, district backward class development officer and general manager of industries Prem Kumar and administrative officer of the Collectorate and other officials were present on the occasion.
