Legal awareness camp held for undertrials in Chanchalguda
A Legal awareness camp was organised in the central prison here on Wednesday by Secretary at Metropolitan Legal Services Authority Swathy Reddy and legal aid advocates.
Chanchalguda: A Legal awareness camp was organised in the central prison here on Wednesday by Secretary at Metropolitan Legal Services Authority Swathy Reddy and legal aid advocates.
The advocates interacted with all under trial prisoners and addressed on legal rights of prisoners under judicial custody.
Further, they assured of extending legal services to the poor, deserved prisoners in engaging an advocate on state cost and rendering services in obtaining bail/plea bargaining etc.
Secretary also stated that accused is not guilty until proven.
Legal aid advocates K Vinod Kumar, Sharada, Vijayalaxmi, Wahed Ali Khan and other advocates attended the programme and collected the particulars of prisoners who need legal services.
Superintendent of Prison K Arjun Rao expressed gratitude for the efforts of Metropolitan Legal Services Authority in extending the services to the prisoners.
He said the facilities are for speedy disposal of long-standing cases.
Deputy Superintendent Dr Srinivas, Jailors Venkatesham, V Shashikanth, R Srinivas and other Jail officers were also present on the occasion.
