KTR gives away course completion certificates to Trainee Civil Servants

Hyderabad: Municipal Administration Minister K Taraka Rama Rao, who was the Chief Guest at the Pre-Valedictory Function, gave away Course Completion Certificates to 140 trainee Civil Servants who attended the 94th Foundation Course conducted by Dr MCR HRD Institute of Telangana under the aegis of LBSNAA, Mussoorie and DoPT, Government of India. He also gave away prizes to the winners in different academic and non-academic competitions.

In his keynote address, KTR said that India's mindboggling growth on multiple fronts is praiseworthy in its own right. However, he added, that such basic problems as access to electricity, potable water, toilets, road connectivity, etc. continue to haunt people, especially the weaker sections of society in rural areas. He, therefore, called upon the young Civil Servants to find enduring solutions to these problems as their priority number one.

KTR said that health and education sectors, which have neglected the concerns of poorer sections of society, should play their role effectively to empower these vulnerable sections of society to rise above the shadows of poverty, ignorance, and ill health. He called upon the use of innovations in administration in order to ensure that the growth is inclusive in nature.

Continuing his address, KTR stated, with a sense of pride, that India, with its young population and increasing numbers of middle- and upper-middle classes, with their huge purchasing power, is a hot a destination for investors from across the globe. He called upon the young Civil Servants to learn and perfect the art of competing at the global level to attract foreign investments and give a big boost to India's growth trajectory.

"Joining civil service, though important in its own right, should not be the ultimate destination of your careers. So far, you have been successful in your careers; now, it is the time to be purposeful", he said and added that giving back to society should be high on their agenda.

Advisor to Governor A.P.V.N. Sarma, who was the Guest of Honour, advised the young Civil Servants to ensure that their decisions are not only in the interests of people but are also sound from the legal perspective. He underlined the need for mid-course training programs covering officers from different Services in order to ensure that Officers they develop a broader vision and work as one organic whole.

Special Chief Secretary & DG Dr. MCR HRD Institute B P Acharya, in his welcome address, said that the top Civil Servants, whose number is a mere 10,000, from out of a staggering about two crore employees, have got the rare opportunity to bring a qualitative change in the lives of people across the country. He stated that Civil Servants, through their effective leadership and inter-personal skills, can inspire and empower the employees at different rungs of the bureaucracy.
