Gadwal: The Deeksha Divas programme was held today at the District BRS Party Office in Gadwal, commemorating the historic hunger strike undertaken by former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) for the formation of Telangana.
Alampur MLA Vijayudu, former Sports Authority Chairman Dr. Anjaneyulu Goud, former Municipal Chairman B.S. Keshav, and Gadwal Constituency BRS Party In-charge Basu Hanumanthu Naidu attended the event together.
Before the meeting began, the leaders hoisted the BRS party flag on the office premises and paid floral tributes to the statue of Telangana Talli.
Leaders Recall KCR’s Sacrifice
Speaking at the programme, the leaders stated that November 29 will forever remain etched in Telangana’s history, as it marks the decisive fast undertaken by KCR with the slogan “Telangana vachudo… KCR sachudo!”
They said the state became a reality only because of KCR’s unwavering determination as the movement leader. Despite threats and obstacles, KCR continued the struggle without stepping back, they added.
The speakers recalled that when employees were protesting against 14F, KCR immediately extended his support. They also mentioned that during the Siddipet public meeting, KCR boldly declared that he would undertake a fast-unto-death if 14F was not removed.
They noted that KCR had vowed not to withdraw from his hunger strike until the announcement of Telangana, and after the declaration, he ended the fast—an unforgettable moment in the state’s history.
Telangana’s Transformation Under KCR
The leaders emphasized that during the united Andhra Pradesh, pensions were only ₹50, electricity shortages were frequent, and farmer suicides were widespread.
However, after the formation of Telangana under KCR’s leadership, uninterrupted electricity, improved irrigation, safe drinking water, and increased pensions up to ₹2,000 were provided. They credited him with bringing remarkable development across all sectors within ten years, making Telangana a model for the nation.
Calling KCR a great leader who once challenged the people to “stone him to death if he abandoned the Telangana movement,” they praised him for keeping his promise by achieving statehood and leading the state to progress.
The leaders expressed confidence that KCR would once again become the Chief Minister in the future.
