The market value of the Wakf property, situated at the Mouzamjahi Market X Roads s pegged at Rs 25 crore, which was claimed to have been taken control by the Wakf Board after formation of Telangana State.
MBT spokesperson Amjedullah Khan alleged that the builders, who sensed an opportunity in the existing Wakf Board's chairman Mohammad Saleem's term coming to an end, started the construction works again with impunity.
"For the last one week, the construction works at the said Wakf property are going on, as the Wakf Board will become headless after the term of Md Saleem as MLC comes to an end and he would cease to continue to be Chairman by this month-end. The construction activity is going on very fast, and Wakf Board is silent on this activity," said Amjedullah Khan.
Under the norms, the Waqf properties could be leased out with the Chairman's permission for only one year and the extension of period could be only be sought by a higher authority.
Moreover, a tender process must be called for leasing the land. A power of attorney cannot be given for any property.
It may be mentioned here that, when Mutawalli G M Khan was the caretaker in 2013, the property's General Power of Attorney was given to S A Rayees (son of S A Raheem, a developer) in October 2013.
Later, they made a sale deed in September 2013 and January 22, 2015 notary was also made.
In 2015, the Wakf Board set up board declaring it to be Waqf land and wrestled out from the encroachers.
The official who transferred the property in 2013 under an individual's name blamed erstwhile Minority Minister Ahmadullah for pressurising him.
Shaik Saleem Basha, the then Deputy Secretary, Waqf Board who conducted the inquiry in 2013 acknowledged transfer of power of attorney as Development-Agreement-cum-General Power of Attorney.
The plot named Tabela Safar Khan is Waqf Alal Aulad, which means only the members of the Wakf's family should be supported out of the income and revenue of the Wakf property.
The property till recently housed a famous hotel and perfumes shops until some part of it was acquired by HMR under Metro Rail master plan.
"After taking the said Wakf land on lease the Minister Ahmedullah's son and his friend Rasheed gave for development to a builder. But after formation of the Telangana Wakf Board, the deal was cancelled and Wakf Board took the control of the said property. Meanwhile, some property was lost under road widening but the compensation for road widening was also not deposited by GHMC to Telangana Wakf Board but was taken by son of Ahmedullah and Rasheed. How come Wakf Board's compensation was taken by them," wonders MBT leader.
