Hyderabad: As part of social service programme, the Welfare Party of India (Telangana) launched 'free auto' service to help emergency patients, handicaps and senior citizens to reach destinations free of cost on Tuesday.

Speaking to The Hans India, the State general secretary of party, Mohammed Waseem, said that ever since the lockdown was announced, the entire party workers got busy distributing food and ration and realised that general public was facing hardships due to lack of transportation facilities.

"We decided to come up with free service and officially launched the service after we got police permission. For the past one-and-a-half months, our entire network has been engaged in reaching out to people in every possible way and now we have extended this service," he said.

WPI State women wing secretary Azmath Quiyum flagged off one of the autos, while Satpal Singh Khalsa, vice-president, Syed Jalaluddin Zafar, a youth leader, and Ahmed Quiyamuddin, state president, were present.
