Malkajgiri: Telangana Vidyarthi Vedika (TVV) Medchal committee has demanded that the state government construct a new building for government degree college at Malkajgiri as students had been facing inconvenience due to lack of own building.

TVV district convener of TVV Anil said that the government college at Neredmet Crossroads, Malkajgiri, was started in 2013 but it still lacked own building. Around 1,800 students were studying in the college, of which 800 were degree college students and remaining intermediate students, he said. The college is being run in two shifts due to lack of adequate classrooms, inter classes in the morning shift and degree classes in the afternoon, he said.

Even as students are facing problems due to lack of amenities, a block consisting of four classrooms is taken over recently by Intermediate Education Officer for conducting exams. As a result, degree classes are being conducted under a tree.

Several representations were made by TVV to education department officials for construction of own building and further development of junior college but there was no response, Anil lamented. He urged the state education minister and higher officials to take measures to build a new building for the college and shift DIEO office from the college. Among those present on the occasion were TVV leaders Shravanthi, Lavanya, Kalpana, Rupa, Suraj, Ram and others.
