Hyderabad: Skill development programme launched in Santoshnagar

Santoshnagar: Yakutpura MLA Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri on Monday launched the Employment Skill and Training Programme (ESTP), as part of Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA) being conducted by GHMC in collaboration with private institutions engaged in skill development at GHMC Community Hall, Kalander Nagar in Santosh Nagar.

Some 150 youth who were interested in learning vocational courses being offered by the government applied on the occasion. Following processing of application, they would be invited through call letters for learning the courses in which they had applied within a week. "Most of these programmes will be completed in 3-months and the organisations engaged in training them will also help in placements," informed, one of the officials.

According to organisers, as part of the ESTP unemployed youth would be trained for free during the duration. The youth in the age group from 18 to 30 years with qualifications SSC, Inter or Degree were eligible to apply for the courses. The courses include customer care executive, computer operator, computer hardware, animation, software developer, domestic voice, artificial intelligence, data analyst, electrician, land surveyors, stores in-charge , In-stores promoters etc. The training will be provided by Bhagyanagar Welfare Society, IPSS and National Academy of Construction.

Earlier, the Charminar Zone organised similar programme under ESTP in Rajendranagar Circle in the month of November which received good response. Under ESTP, the GHMC in collaboration with the major companies in the city, started holding skill training-cum-Job melas for unemployed educated youth as well as the physically challenged people, to help them get a job after equipping them with essential

training.

The applicants after getting training are expected to get a minimum Rs 9,000 to a maximum of Rs 20,000 salary per month according to their performance during the skills development training programme.
