Bagh Lingampally: National OBC United Front organized a round table conference on BC empowerment here at Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram on Sunday. The conference, presided by the front president Allampally Ramkoti, was attended by several BC leaders including BC welfare association president R Krishnaiah.

Addressing the round table, Krishnaiah lamented that although BCs constitute more than 50 per cent of the total population, not even a single BC leader was made chief minister of the state. While BCs were used as voting machines, upper caste leaders enjoyed political power, he lamented. He said that most of the Telangana martyrs were from SC, ST and BC communities and contributed immensely for the formation of the new state, but these communities were deprived of political power in the state. Krishnaiah alleged large scale corruption in Kaleshwaram project and said that the project was taken up for the sake of commissions. He urged BCs to take money from forward caste political parties during elections but vote for BC candidates.

Former MLC Ramulu Naik said that BCs were getting deceived by political parties which were dominated by forward caste leaders. "It is futile to fight for reservations after giving power to political parties dominated by upper castes," he said. "We wanted a social Telangana but it has become 'dorala' (landlords) Telangana," he lamented. Former MLC demanded the TRS government to fulfil its promise of renaming Mulugu district after 'Sammakka Saralamma', a historic fair in Telangana. He said that they would tour the 119 constituencies of the state and raise awareness among dalits and Bahujans on the need for attaining political power.

State president of BC welfare association Erra Satyanarayana, BC youth association president Neela Venkatesh, BC leaders Krishna Yadav, Vemula Radhakrishna, Jillapalli Anji, Chandrashekhar Goud, Kale Jagannatham, Rajender Mudhiraj, Govardhan Naik, Jhansi, Yellaiah, Jagadish, Durgaprasad and others were among those who attended the programme.
