HYDERABAD: On Tuesday, as the police were searching for the body of 11-year-old girl at an abandoned well in Hajipur. The angry villagers broke into the locked house of Reddy. They ransacked the house, damaged furniture and set it ablaze. The alleged serial rapist and murderer Marri Srinivas Reddy had told the investigators that, he targeted his victims carefully, by monitoring their routine and committed the offences alone.

"He used to observe girls going out and returning to the village. He used to observe their routine and conduct recce. All the murders he committed were pre-planned," Bhagwat said.

After raping and murdering the 11-year-old girl in the year 2015 April, Reddy misbehaved with a 38-year-old woman who was herding cattle.

A complaint was also filed with the police and a case was registered. Later, the case was settled in Lok Adalat. Later, in the year 2016 while he was employed for Planet Elevators company in Kurnool Reddy and four of his colleagues brought a sex worker to their rented room in Kurnool. After an argument broke out with her about the money, Reddy and others killed the sex worker and disposed the body in a water tank. They immediately vacated the house. By looking at his criminal record, police suspect that Reddy might have committed more such offences. "We will seek police custody of Reddy to find out if he had committed more such offences," he said. For the identification of the body the skeletal remains have been sent to the forensic lab.

As the family of the victim did not file a police complaint, Mahesh Bhagwat has appealed to the villagers to report the missing cases, if they have not done so far. He also appealed to the parents to educate their children regarding not to hitch-hike on vehicles of strangers.

Anitha Ramachandran the collector of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri had visited the Hajipur village on Tuesday and said that for the families of the victims, she will try to get ex-gratia.
