Hyderabad: The Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) has decided to intensify monitoring of industries day and night, following a spate of complaints from the public over unpleasant odour in the residential areas of Kukatpally, Miyapur, Tellapur, Nacharam as also regarding dumping of effluents in nalas in Jeedimetla and Mallapur industrial areas.

The Member Secretary TSPCB held a review meeting with Joint Chief Environmental Engineers of zonal offices in the city and RC Puram and regional officers of Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal, RC Puram and Sangareddy regions. Minister for Industries & Commerce KTR has also taken serious note of the issue and directed the officials to take stringent action against the non-complying industries.

The Member Secretary directed all the zonal and the regional Officials to intensify the monitoring of industries both during the day and the night in all the IDA (industrial development authority) limits and other areas, where industries are located.

They were told to ensure that the industries operate air and water pollution control equipment at all times. Officials were asked to attend to all the complaints and redress them at the earliest and furnish daily status reports.

The Member Secretary directed that all pharma, chemical and water industries put in place CCTV cameras in front of the main gate and along the boundary of the compound walls to check any illegal discharges. It has been made mandatory and the footage would be regularly monitored by PCB officials.
