Malkajgiri: Manda Krishna Madiga, founder-president of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS), stated here on Sunday that the sacrifices of martyrs during the Madiga SC categorisation struggle would not be allowed to go waste.
He was speaking at the Madiga Martyrs Day in MRPS national office here to honour those who sacrificed their lives during the SC categorisation struggle, after garlanding their portraits, on the 'Madiga Amaraveerula Dinotsavam' to be celebrated every year on March 1. Manda Krishna stated that the madiga community would progress only when categorisation was implemented. He said MRPS has been agitating for the last 25 years pressing for the categorisation. The agitation against the Centre and the State governments would continue till the categorisation was given legal status.
The MRPS leader stated that the commission constituted by the State government had given a report favouring categorisation. He wanted the Centre at least now to give legal status to categorisation and demanded an all-party delegation be taken to New Delhi to press the demand.
Those present at the event included MRPS national president Satyam, leaders Lakshman, Rajayya, Vijay, Mallikarjun, Sitaram, Mohan and Prem Kumar.
