Hyderabad: The bogey of foul smell from the factories around Ameenpur is once again making a comeback. Most of the factories in the 5-km radius of IDA Bolarum are the culprits.

Residents allege that for the past few days pungent odour and frequent discharge of smoke is emanating from the adjoining factories. The locals say that factories are dumping industrial waste in Ameenpur Lake. Dead fish floating on the waters is a clear indication. "There are around 2,000 people residing close by. The foul smell is unbearable and is usually experienced during early mornings and at night time. We have raised a complaint to Ameenpur Municipality about this issue," said Srinivas, a resident of Empire Meadows, Ameenpur. "Several times we have lodged a complained to the Pollution Control Board but to no avail," said Vishwanath, a resident of Empire Meadows , Ameenpur. "Most of the time the pungent smell start around 9pm to 11.30pm, PCB official should take action as soon as possible. This pungent smell is not good for health," said Surendra, a resident of Ameenpur

Speaking to The Hans India, Sujatha, the Commissioner of Ameenpur Municipality, said, "We have received complaints on this issue from locals, as industries are located in Bolarum. The issue has been taken to the notice of Pollution Control Board and the official concerned would look into the issue."
