Hyderabad: Foreign officials pat NIRDPR for providing training in rural Development

Hyderabad: Officials from different countries undergoing training at NRDPR, Hyderabad, have said that the training has enriched them and it will help them to roll out effective programmes in their respective countries.

Officials from Africa, Middle East, North America and Asia have attending training programme on 'Planning and Management of Housing Programmes' at the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (NIRDPR), Hyderabad.

The foreign officials are being trained under the 'Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation' (ITEC) initiative, supported by the Union Ministry of External Affairs. Highlighting the impact of the programme, Dr Ramesh Sakthivel, Course Coordinator, NIRDPR, said, "It was wonderful to see the international participants under the ITEC and some of the participants felt there should be a NIRDPR unit at Africa to train a large number of participants who can't travel to India."

Mussa Ali Kombo of Zanzibar Planning Commission, Tanzania, said: "This (ITEC programme) is one among the brilliant initiatives. It will make officials deliver tangible results."

Similarly, Sonam Dorji, from Bhutan, found that the field trip organised to Bengaluru and Mysore made him conceive ideas on the training and actions proceeded for elevating poverty from the country.

For Kissan Ramkalawan of Mauritius finds the field visit exposure gave him the idea as how the Government of India is mobilizing to provide training to the rural areas to empower the rural community.

Hadjer Touati from Algeria said the ITEC programme instill in him confidence and enabled him to apply the learning outcomes in his country.

George Omondi Otieno from Kenya, says it is easier for Kenya to track India's development by incorporating its good examples while learning and avoiding its challenges."

Shila Kalinda Chabalengula from Zambia, said the training provided a platform for knowledge sharing as it is very participatory." The month-long training programme started on January 7 will be concluded on February 13.
