Hyderabad emerging as services hub: US Professor
Marketing Professor from a US university outlines the strategic advantage of Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Prof Jagdish N Sheth, Charles H Kellstadt Distinguished Professor of Marketing, Goizueta Business School, Emory University, USA outlined the advantages of Hyderabad which is fast emerging as the services hub of the country and also its strategic advantage.
Prof Sheth delivering his lecture as the chief guest at the Telangana Distinguished Lecture Series (TDLS) organised by the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) here on Monday also predicted that Hyderabad would soon overtake Bengaluru in the defence-related sector in addition to the pharma, life sciences and IT sectors.
Conducive climate, favourable industrial policies and stability of the Telangana government make it an ideal choice for global investors and organisations, he added.
He suggested that the Atlanta Model of Vocational education and stressed on Indian higher education system needs to invite foreign student and collaborate with international universities in addition to inviting foreign faculty so that the students gain exposure and global experience.
Dr Rajiv Sharma, Chief Advisor to the Telangana government highlighted the huge investments in infrastructure in addition to the support being given to the agricultural sector.
He congratulated the TSCHE for organising the TDLS which has been the first of its kind in the State and provides a thrust to the already strong intellectual base of the Telangana.
Dr B Janardhan Reddy, Secretary Education, stressed the need to build on the existing core competencies prevalent in the education system in Telangana. He said there is a lot of absenteeism in schools and the efforts are being made to contain the same.
He suggested that education quality must be improved in all government, private and non-profit institutions to make India the preferred destination.
Prof T Papi Reddy, Chairman, TSCHE outlined various initiatives being undertaken by the council and TSCHE Vice-Chairman's Prof. V. Venkata Ramana and Prof. R. Limbadri also highlighted on the various initiatives.
The lecture series was inaugurated on Monday, by Dr Rajiv Sharma and Prof Sheth, was the chief guest. Jayesh Rajan, Principal Secretary, IT and Communications, eminent educationists, policymakers, academicians and leading industry leaders attended the Lecture series.
The lecture series was supported by ICFAI Group, Hyderabad.
The Chairman, TSCHE felicitated the guests including Chairperson of ICFAI Group Sobha Rani Yasaswy and appreciated the gesture of the ICFAI Group to support such an important initiative.
