Hyderabad: Congress readies a list of slack leaders
Congress leaders in North Telangana are not active in relief works Even they did not participate in the one-day hunger strike by PCC in support of the farmers and other workers
Hyderabad: Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) will take action on the leaders who were not active in the relief operations being taken up for the benefit of the poor who are suffering due to lockdown imposed in view of coronavirus pandemic across the State.
The PCC is preparing a list of the leaders who were not participating in the relief activities on behalf of the party. This would be taken to the notice of All India Congress Committee (AICC).
According to sources, the responsibility has been entrusted to a senior functionary of the PCC. The list would be forwarded to the AICC as soon as it is prepared. The AICC would suggest further action. It may be noted here that the Congress has initiated relief works in the State for the benefit of the poor and migrant workers since the imposition of lockdown in the state on March 22. Janata Curfew was imposed on March 22 to prevent the spread of coronavirus and lockdown was imposed soon after that.
The Congress rank and file entered the scene few days after the imposition of lockdown. They have been distributing rice, other essential and cooked food to the poor and migrant workers.
The All India Congress Committee had instructed the State units to take up relief measures for the benefit of the poor and migrant workers. As far as state is concerned most of the Congress senior leaders have taken up relief works at several places. MPs, MLAs, former MLAs, former MPs and former MLCs are participating in the relief activities. However, it has come to the notice of the AICC that few leaders were not participating in the relief works. It has issued instructions to PCCs to prepare the list of such leaders.
The relief works are not taken up seriously in few districts of the State for the past 48 days. Congress leaders in North Telangana are not active in the relief works. Even they did not participate in the one-day hunger strike by PCC in support of the farmers and other workers. With this PCC, president N Uttam Kumar Reddy has directed a senior functionary to prepare the list.
Usually the PCC entrusts the responsibility of informing the party activities to the secretaries, general secretaries, vice presidents and others through the senior leaders. The senior leaders would check whether the persons entrusted to them have participated in the activities being assigned to them. They have been asked to furnish the names of the leader who were not active.
