Hyderabad: Activists raise pitch for Kisaan Bagh-type stir
Prof Kodandaram calls for another Million March to support farmers
Hyderabad: In an expression of solidarity with the farmers of India social activists contemplated Kisaan Bagh protests, on the lines of Shaheen Bagh. At a round table conference organized by Tehreek Muslim Shabban on Monday, activists deliberated on the formation of a Joint Action Committee for this cause while terming the new farm Act as 'anti-farmers' law.
During the conference, Tehreek Muslim Shabban President Mushtaq Malik said that the central government is exploiting laws and implementing new ones to benefit a handful of rich Indians and turning into Ambanistan and Adanistan.
Activists also termed the laws not only against farmers, but against every household, which has a kitchen in India. They said farmers too are equal Indians, and the government must accept their demands instead of lathi-charging them. They said the farmers' protest is a people's movement and apolitical.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Kodandaram said "There must be another Million March in support of Kisaan agitation." The round-table was attended by Sardar Indar Singh, chairman of Gowliguda Gurudwara Committee, Sardar Jogendar Singh, general secretary of Gowliguda Gurudwara Committee, Sardar Darshan Singh, Amjadullah Khan of MBT, Dr Aleem Khan Falaki, Rasheed Rashadi, Rafeeq Rashadi, Kamal Athar, Prof Anwar Khan and others. The activists also urged the Imams of Masjids to create awareness about solidarity for farm bills in the community through Friday sermons.
