Around 180 people including 100 trainee sub-inspectors have tested positive for coronavirus in Telangana State Police Academy (TSPA). While some of the infected persons have been sent to Gandhi Hospital others were put in quarantine in the academy.

It is learned that the 100 trainee sub-inspectors who have tested positive were undergoing training at the academy after clearing the exam conducted by the Telangana State Police Recruitment Board. Besides the trainee sub-inspectors, 100-member staff working in the academy tested positive.

The infected persons are being taken with the utmost care and given proper treatment, the officials said. As 100 trainee sub-inspectors are said to have been infected, the scheduled training sessions were deferred until further notice.

Meanwhile, the state reported 983 coronavirus positive cases including 816 cases in GHMC limits followed by 47 cases in Rangareddy, 33 from Mancherial and 29 from Medchal. Currently, the number of active patients in the state is 9,000 in Telangana.
