Hyderabad: The adamant attitude of the State government towards RTC strike and dismissal of 48,000 RTC staff forced the CPI State unit to withdraw its support to the ruling TRS in the Huzurnagar Assembly seat bypoll scheduled to be held on October 21.

State party unit secretary Ch Venkat Reddy convened an emergency meeting with his party leaders and discussed the political developments after TSRTC workers launched strike against the State government on their demands.

The party took serious note of the government's indifference towards addressing the demands raised by the RTC workers. CPI leaders said that the dismissal of nearly 48,000 RTC workers was undemocratic.

The Left party has been demanding the TRS government to consider the RTC workers demands and call for talks. As a mark of strong protest, CPI decided to withdraw support to TRS in the byelection, Reddy said in a statement.
